Since forming in Paris in Autumn 2000 The Wedding Band has made it's
presence known on the Paris music scene. The group started playing together
in the streets and have become one of the hardest working bands in town.
The members of the band are all Americans who live in Paris and have
worked with some of the biggest names in jazz and blues including Phil
Woods, Lena Horne, Steve Lacy, Corey Harris, and the late Stanley Turrentine
to name a few. The Wedding Band have created a unique sound which blends
jazz, blues, gospel, dixieland, and even pop music into an emotional,
energetic, gritty ride down Bourbon Street.
The band has just completed their fourth CD, titled “IV”.
To date, the group has sold over 25,000 discs. Aside from being the
premiere wedding band in Paris, the guys keep a busy schedule performing
in Paris and other parts of Europe, such as the famous Duc Des Lombards
jazz club in Paris, L’Entrepot, the La Rochelle Jazz Festival,
and the Deauville Festival to name a few. They've also played numerous
private and corporate affairs, including the French Open Tennis tournament
at Roland Garros, Yachts de Paris, the Eurogress in Germany, for the
German embassy in Paris, and Renault, among others. The band has also
been the subject of magazine editorials in Mariée and Eurostar
magazines. Recently, The Wedding Band caught the eyes and ears of French
film maker Agnes Varda and she included them in one of her films and
used their music in another film. The band has also performed in a television
commercial for “POP” cellular phone service in Poland. With
the recent addition of singer/guitarist Michael Rosen, The Wedding Band
will record a fifth CD in early 2005 and continue doing what they do
best - making great music and having a whole lot of fun.
